[wow, that...hit surprisingly hard, actually.]

[he sits back and stares at Nova's reply for a minute. maybe it's true, he's apologizing out of obligation because it's Rosh Hashanah and that's all about making things right with people so you can free yourself up to make things right with God on Yom Kippur.]

[he's not doing it so he can be proud of himself. He's doing it because he's afraid he could be a terrible psychopath if he didn't care so much about living up to God's standards. He has killed a person, not out of necessity, but because he was too cowardly to face the consequences of not doing so. Because it was easy.]

[It would be easy to be vindictive about this and walk away. But it's wrong. Just as killing Evelyn was wrong.]


Don't talk about morality like you understand anything.
