(no subject)

I'm feeling openminded today!

So, all you people talking about monsters leaping out of your screens or whatever.

Wanna try to convince me? I'm willing to consider pictures, video, or detailed eyewitness accounts.

Yeah, it was new. Did you participate in that event XDAV did where we got to see the original Xumurdad battle-ground? Because the tree that showed up in my friend's yard is a tree from that area, and said tree doesn't even grow in this part of the world.

No, but I know the foliage outside my own window. There should be bushes and flowers. Ferns? No.

Yes, honey, because it's completely possible to quietly uproot one fully grown tree and replace it with another fully grown tree overnight. :|

Yeah, I don't think some rich dude is going to break onto private property to switch out a tree for the hell of it.

That's not "crazy", sweetie. That's obsessive and insane. No RPer I know is that out of touch with reality.

Gabe, for fucking real. Once you eliminate the impossible (see: magic), whatever remains, no matter how improbable, must be the truth.

A crazy RPer uprooting and replacing a tree is improbable but possible. Magic teleporting trees from the game to Earth is not.

I'm afraid not. Gabe is highly resistant to science.

So some random guy with silent as the dead equipment sneaks into Alison's yard just to replace a birch tree with an acacia and the new tree and the area around it doesn't look disturbed at all. Right. Because that makes sense.

Intuition tells me that isn't it, honey. You can try to qualify it with science all you want, but I know something weird is going on here.

It makes more sense than saying a fucking wizard did it!

So you're seriously telling me that you can't open your mind to the possibility that there are things going on that might not be able to be justified with science?
inchesofevil: ([06] Damned for all time)

[personal profile] inchesofevil 2012-06-25 03:18 pm (UTC)(link)
Yes, I am telling you that! Because if you can't justify it with reality then it doesn't exist!

Man, you "if I can see it and I can touch it, then it's real" types are so boring...

Science is more abstract than you give it credit for. I don't need physical evidence to believe something. I just need to know physics has an equation for it.
