Behaving, yes... almost foolishly eager to please, though thankfully that seems to be selective. In this case at least, it seems to be as much to make Ms. Hargrave happy as himself, so I can't say it's a bad thing this time around.

You may be talking to the wrong person about this, but I don't think it a bad thing. What he thinks of you, I can't say. Maybe sometime you can send him your own letter. Or he might send one to you himself. But I think he's starting to understand what's going on, it's just a matter of finding his place in it. The circumstances might be unusual, but that's common enough in young people, isn't it? Even Ezra was like that. Sounds like he's gotten over it.

Yes, nerve damage. He's evasive in speaking about it that goes beyond shame, so I've let it be. I learned not to deal in assassin matters a long time ago.

Actually, if you could find a good sword for him. Something light and quick would suit him best, and a dragon shouldn't have trouble porting it, if it works. Pickings are still a little slim around these parts.

Do you think they'd take it away? [the concept of school makes no sense to him if he's not going to go study as a mage or an alchemist... and since he isn't, what's the trouble in have a weapon?] Well, I haven't had trouble carrying my sword around, but I'm also situated in Bastantown. It wasn't really feasible to go wasting time to get all the people ported here to go hiding their weapons all of a sudden.

I suppose it could be different for him, though.
