I had to settle more than one dispute today concerning who is the real winner of a fight that takes place in exchanged bodies.

Can someone please explain what's going on?

Apparently it's a thing these days. All the kids are doing it.

That's a disturbing trend.

But some of them are having fun with it. In their own way.

Don't worry. I believe you. It's a relief to know it's not just here.

I don't think so. Mages can do some pretty strange things, but I don't think we're capable of something like this. It doesn't really matter to some people, though. I mean, if something strange happens, most people immediately seem to think it's our fault.

I'm checking the books here at the Library, but I'm coming up with nothing so far.

They don't understand how our magic works. But they know we're powerful. And they know that some of us break when we become mages.

It makes them afraid.

I didn't think we were that scary to people...

I think I might need to fix that.

What we do scares people. What we are scares people.

But they are not hostile towards us most of the time, so it does not bother me.

It's all over the university, too. I stopped by to check on some grades and the registrar wasn't the registrar.

Yeah, I did. They cancelled classes for fall, though, so I'm gonna have to make something of myself. Kind of a pain in the ass.

I'd like to claim it's calming down, but if it's not one thing...

I wonder how much use degrees have after the merge. Have you thought about joining a guild?

Yeah, I'm probably gonna do that. I'm still thinking on which, though... I guess a lot of Earth people are now?

Seems that way. With monsters more abundant here than Fall City, and Earth guns rendered useless, people depend on one of the guilds to take care of problems one way or another.

I shouldn't be advertising other guilds, I guess, but it's no exaggeration to say alchemy can save a lot of lives.

I'm dealing with spirits perturbed at their druids not being their druids.

This is nutty.

They're bound to the body, then?

Seems like it. Or to the guild power, maybe. These're ones that usually roam free but they say they still feel connected to the person even if it ain't their druid in them.

That sounds confusing I have no idea if it made sense.

Except the guild power part. It's not happening only between druids?

Doesn't seem to be. One guy was in a panic when I found him after his spirit found me. He said he was just a school teacher and had no idea what was going on.
