[Dragon Mail: Ravindra Savarna]
[Sent along with this dragon mail are a couple of jingly plastic balls in the brighest colors imaginable for Mittens. Sorry, Ravi.]
We have not spoken since you last wrote to me, Savarna. Are you well?Or are we not speaking to each other any longer? [Gone. So very gone.] Things have been a bit hectic here, otherwise I would have written to ask sooner.
[Dragon Mail: Rasmus]
Apparently, the berserker tournament begins tomorrow. I am told they found a way to broadcast it here to Earth. Others like us were planning on watching it together. Would you like to come? Or has someone invited you already?
[Dragon Mail: Lera Savinkov]
I would have called, but I did not know if you were busy or not. I figured sending you a dragon mail would be easier, and you could reply to it at your earliest convenience.
How exactly does one obtain employment in this world? It occurs to me that this is something I should probably have if I remain here much longer, especially after what happened to X-DAV yesterday.

[Anais might even hear all about her run-in with Omid's guards but Lera can save that for later]
Employment is rather complicated here. You might need a social security number, and while I would like to think they would relax the requirement, with everything that happened, I have my concerns that you're going to be lower on the government's totem pole.
Why don't I ask at my company first? With how things are getting, they may want some local consultants and, frankly, bodyguards.
no subject
You would do that? Thank you for the offer, Miss Savinkov, but I do not wish to inconvenience you.
no subject
Don't worry about it, it's not an inconvenience at all. I'll ask and let you know what they say.
no subject
Thank you very much. That is very kind of you to do.

[Mittens eyeballs the one he tosses toward her, gets up to sniff it, gives it a curious bat, and then lays back down, staring at it like it's plotting something]
[probably not the intended result]
I'm fine.
Ah, more of Bastan is gone. It's there now, yes? The Queen, too.
no subject
Yes, that is why I was asking. I worry for those who were left behind, especially now that I know the missing parts of Bastan leave sinkholes when they cross over. Are you still in what remains of Bastan?
She is here, too, yes. Apparently, she spoke to the mayor of the city the other day, so I assume she is well, too. Her guards do not like anybody getting too close to the castle, however.
You seem to have acquired more of this world in exchange, including the leader of the country I am currently in. I'm told he lives in a white house. Have you seen it yet? I have only seen it in pictures, but it is most impressive.
no subject
[A white house? Why would that be special...?]
I haven't seen it. Do you know where?
I heard the Nenakret has an Earth city in it, now. They don't speak the same language there.
no subject
I do not, no. However, the city it was in disappeared. I can only assume it arrived there.
This is the building:
[And have Anais' best attempt at sketching what the White House looks like, Ravi! She clearly has no future as an artist, but it looks similar enough.]
I would send an actual picture, but that would require me destroying a book that did not belong to me. I do not think that would be appreciated.
Yes, I had heard other cities from Earth may have wound up there. A place called Paris is missing, I believe, from somewhere in a land called France. They tell me France itself is quite far from Fall City, further than it would be for us to visit one of the other countries in Zenderael. Their world is apparently larger than I had thought.
no subject
The whole city?[Yes genius it's not that hard to fathom is it? You even just said the Nenakret got its own Earth city. He just hasn't seen that so it's difficult to picture...][that 'white house' doesn't really look all that impressive though] Maybe I can find out where it is.
[Wait a second, 'France' seems familiar. Digging out some older letters, one moment]
I think that might be the city in the Nenakret. There's a big iron tower, it's called the Eiffel Tower.
no subject
If it wound up somewhere else in Everea or even Safta, I suppose it should be all right. Pakerion may be another matter entirely. I hear Aerveas is apparently taking issue with the Earthers.
Yes! That is it. The Eiffel Tower is in Paris. I am told that was a tourist attraction, although I do not see the appeal. Have you seen it?
no subject
Ah, yes. The new Ahura is at odds with King Aerveas over it, I heard. They say that's why the tournament was called. [You overhear a lot of stuff working in the kitchens...]
Yes, I saw it with my sister. It's tall, but there's not much to it. I think it's famous for being very structurally sound?
no subject
That would make the most sense, yes. Will you be attending the tournament? We'll even be able to see it here. Apparently, some of the Earthers who crossed over there have found a way for us to see it, as well. This internet of theirs is remarkable.
That seems like an odd thing for a structure to be famous for. If it was impressively painted or designed, maybe, but being structurally sound?
no subject
Ah, I don't know. Maybe in the evenings. I don't have time during the day. [Did he tell Anais about being put on extra duty? No, he didn't even mention the fight with the Spenta to her. Best not go there, then, that'd be embarrassing.]
Maybe it's more impressive to an architect.
no subject
Oh, that's right. You would still be busy with drills and patrol, yes?
I suppose, but from what I have seen of it in pictures, it certainly does not look that impressive. The buildings in Bastan are far more impressive-looking than that.
no subject
because[Nope let her fill in that blank on her own. She was there when Akhilendra first showed up, she knows]I think so, too.
Ah, there was a museum also, in the Nenakret. Full of art from Earth. That was more interesting than the tower.
no subject
How is being an instructor working out for you?
Art does tend to be much more impressive.
no subject
It's not bad. A little difficult sometimes, because my player didn't give me any memories of learning, so I can't draw on my own experience as a trainee. [because players are dumb anais, it is the truth and you better accept it]
I don't have much interest in it, but my sister wanted to go.
no subject
Nor did mine, now that I think of it, but we must have learned it from somewhere. Perhaps they did not deem it that important.
You have a sister? [asdfjkhewf;jkl why does it feel like there's so much she doesn't know about the people who are supposed to be her friends?]
no subject
[y...es... he just doesn't mention her a lot because p much nobody from Bastan can meet her since she uhhh got arrested for being an assassin once]
I mentioned her a few letters ago...
no subject
So you did. To be fair, you rarely mention your family. I do not, either, but none of mine probably exist.
no subject
My sister is the only one who does, of my family. We were out of contact until a few months ago. I think she was created then. [strange realization...]
no subject
Even so, at least she exists now. Although... is she still controlled?
no subject
[THE IRONY OF RAVI CALLING ANYBODY DIFFICULT]
[oh god anais don't go there you do not even KNOW the drama surrounding that question] No. She's awake.
no subject
Oh. That's good, then. I wonder if everyone else might be by now. The company that supposedly created our world has been taken into custody by the authorities here. They even shut down the devices that ran it. Considering I am still speaking to you, it is rather nice to know Zenderael did not blink out of existence when they did.
no subject
Players seem to know each other, so if you speak to the players of people you know, you might be able to find yours. If you really want to speak with them.
Ah... [Not sure what to make of that. The fact that there was even the remotest possibility of the entire world blinking out of existence is distressing.] That means players can't control anybody anymore, yes?
no subject
Not unless their servers are reactivated. However, considering exactly what happened, I do not think that will be a possibility any time soon.

[a long pause... he'd feel guilty seeing it and not being able to be there, because he was so going to be there except he can't be]
Where would we watch it?
no subject
[She has the feeling Rasmus may be feeling guilty about this. She is already planning an awkward hug attempt for when they see each other next.
Xumurdad, what has being on Earth done to her?]
Someone mentioned a bar, I believe. Apparently, there are televisions there. Ordinarily, I would not accompany them to such a place, but someone must keep them out of trouble.
