[Dragon Mail: Ezra Amos]
I spoke to the Asha.

Whatever research he tried to do didn't sit well with him. He seems convinced he's going to die.

He refused protection.

[Dragon Mail: Reilanin]
I met with the Asha.

I'm sorry. I wasn't able to find out anything more about your connection to him.

[Dragon Mail: Jordan Hayes]
Got to see the Asha last night.

You know how they say mages can lose their minds...?

I do not remember him that way.

Why?

[personal profile] winterwhite 2012-10-14 12:48 am (UTC)(link)
He could do that?

[why is she surprised? she's been able to examine things that should be impossible, and yet she's treated them as natural

but her mind keeps going back to that journal and what it might mean...
]

Yes... it isn't simply myth, what they say of mages. The greatest of them are also the most far removed from reality. It is questionable if they can even tell the difference anymore. Luckily, they are few and far between.

[it shouldn't upset her as much as it does, either. surely, upas can find something, but she'd been hoping on Rhys for something...

what if she went herself?...
]

I wonder how many others there are...

But if he can't communicate what he's finding...

[frustrating! somehow it makes her hate him more.]

It's all right. I've other sources. I'd simply hoped...

Golems. Like me. Sophisticated enough to nearly be human. I doubt I'm the only one. There are some things- I can't imagine he wouldn't have been experimenting in order to perfect his creating. Before me, or after me. As near as I can tell, he's been meticulous, but there's always something to forget...

An unfinished golem...?

[even though she's just sorted through it herself, to hear that there actually is another in the works surprises her

and if he's not well... should he be allowed to complete it?
]

I see.

I found a book recently. In the Library. I sent it to my player.

She told me it was written in an old Earth language.

[there are questions she wants to ask, but they aren't for Rhys to answer, so she keeps them for herself... not that she'll be able to answer them herself...]

It had drawings of earth creatures in it. A penguin. I recognized a giraffe and a leopard as well.

She said ... Farsi? Or something like it? An old language. But I recognized some of it... the style of it, that is. Some of the glyphs I use are similar.

Yes, yes, like those. Almost exactly. [the drawings in the journals were much better.]

Is that so? [similar languages existing between the two worlds... did earth influence it before Xumurdad came?]

Worry? No, I don't think so. Confused, I suppose. I don't know what it means.

I wonder... if it isn't a matter of similar, but a matter of same. I am almost certain it is.

It's hard to worry about something so vague. [Reilanin is also very unimaginative and has a different sense of time, so thinking of terrible things in the future is like expecting a fish to worry about rain]

I suppose I'll find out when Theresa gets that information back to me. If she can. I don't know how possible it would be... it seems your world has been able to keep much better records of its history than Zenderael.

I suppose. It simply makes no sense to me to think on such things when the present requires so much of my attention already.

There are mentions of Zenderael before Xumurdad, but nothing beyond that it was.

[there's a pause in the letters- she's been drawing in... well, not stoats, but they look similar, only they've got larger, feathery ears and two tails. a common enough sight in southern safta]

Even the stories of Zenderael's creation by Xumurdad begins with the destruction of supposed other continents, saying they were enveloped by the waters. I've read of Earth and where it's placed in the universe, what it looks like from space... like a blue ball, with continents scattered all around it. Perhaps our world was like that once. The stories make it sound as though that were so.

[the words 'two-tailed floxin" are written underneath, along with another doodle]

Perhaps these things existed then...

[personal profile] winterwhite 2012-10-14 10:55 pm (UTC)(link)
Ah... no, my apologies. I meant the others. [she's put stars by the giraffe and leopard] The floxin, I think, are unique to Zenderael.

I've continued to look for other such things, but nothing, so far. At least I can say that I am well occupied now.

Fossil evidence?

Magic can manipulate things to a certain degree, but as far as I know, not in such a way as to transform a whole species. To do so would require an untold amount of power.

[....something like Xumurdad, maybe.]

No... this is enough. Thank you. I appreciate your speaking with me. Your knowledge of Earth combined with your experience of Zenderael is invaluable.

Ah... nothing that I know of, but such things are not my specialty... [well... she has seen very old things before, things people have brought to her for use of enchantment, but did that mean anything at all?]

I'll do that. [knowing rei she most definitely will]
